Caterpillar has named Milton CAT “Lead Dealer” for nuclear applications for the entire USA.
There are several reasons why nuclear power utilities choose Milton CAT as their source for emergency/standby generator power. We have the top-quality, USA-made equipment they are looking for, very large, EPA-compliant, low-emissions Diesel generators that the nuclear plants want for ‘Station Blackout,’ which is essentially backup to their backup; a way to know that if there’s failure at the plant, the nuclear reactors can be shut off even if the plant has no power.
Beyond the equipment, we bring other key elements to the table. Engineering know-how is indispensable; it’s not a case of ordering a piece of equipment and plugging it in; our customers want to count on us throughout the life of the plant, from the planning stages all the way through. The CAT Dealer network is another big advantage; our customers like to know that wherever their plant may be located, they can rely on a nearby CAT Dealership for parts and support, and we have the facilities and equipment set up to provide advanced training to nuclear plant personnel, so they can learn how to perform maintenance on their Station Blackout generators.
And then, of course, there’s the ISO 9000:2008 Certification; that means that Milton CAT Power Systems has met the quality management guidelines set by the International Standards Organization. The certification has to be kept current so there are continuous re-evaluations, and our Power Systems coworkers have consistently met the requirements to maintain theirs. Other power generator manufacturers may be certified, but their distributors do not always hold their own certification as Milton CAT Power Systems does.
