Co-hosted by the New York State Landscapers’ Association, the event had something for everyone; a good mix of demonstrations, machine and work tool operation, tours, contests, good food and special one day pricing.
Invited to find out for themselves the answers to some important questions – which work tool would help them make the most money; how does it feel to operate the new CAT steel undercarriage compact track loader and whether they were sure they were servicing their compact equipment the appropriate way, area farms and companies sent their representatives to Milton CAT’s Batavia location. In many cases, spouses and children also took part in the June 25th event. The day had been planned to give guests an opportunity to see the most in the least possible time.
The food tent, where a delicious meal was served, was busy for lunch as well as for dinner, with guests enjoying their choice of pulled pork or barbecued chicken. Also well-attended throughout the day was the operation and maintenance tent, where Milton CAT Parts and Service Sales Representatives (PSSRs) demonstrated the correct way to handle the servicing of CAT compact equipment – skid steers, mini excavators, and MTLs or Multiple Terrain Loaders. More than half of the attendees signed up to participate in the operators’ skill contest, a chance to measure themselves against their peers, navigating a challenging obstacle course. The event was won by Don Smith of Don Smith and Sons Excavating of Alexander, New York with a time of 43.44 seconds, just .06 seconds faster than the closest competitor.
Another favorite item on the packed agenda was the work tool demo, with guests able to see up close the function and advantages of above ground as well as below ground work tools such as hammers, augers, rakes and bale grapples. A tour of the Batavia facility was a must; this is a site that was built to meet the most demanding specs and it features the latest innovations regarding layout and design. Last but not least was a chance to try your luck at the Wheel of Fortune, which gave interested participants the chance to spin and save an additional 10% off already discounted, one day only prices on machines and work tools.
